Super League: Hull FC 12-32 Wakefield Trinity

Wakefield Trinity scored 18 unanswered second-half points to earn a deserved victory and end Hull FC's three-game winning streak in Super League.

Ryan Hampshire and Bill Tupou's tries had given Trinity a 14-0 lead but Danny Houghton and Bureta Faraimo hit back for the hosts shortly before the break.

However, Tupou dived over in the corner for his second, before Pauli Pauli and Reece Lyne's scores made the win safe.

Victory saw Wakefield move one place above Hull in to fifth in the table.

Wakefield's good night was tinged with concern over two injuries, as both Tupou and Tom Johnstone ended the evening on crutches, with the latter having been stretchered off in the first half before Tupou limped off in the second.

The home side were punished for a lack of discipline, with Albert Kelly sent to the bin for a high tackle shortly before Trinity's second try, while Marc Sneyd was shown a yellow for dissent when he kicked the ball in to the stands after an hour.

The visitors' Danny Kirmond and Pauli both spent time in the bin for late shots, but Wakefield scored while Kirmond was off the field, as well as crossing each time the hosts were reduced to 12.

Danny Brough's six goals for the visitors helped secured their second consecutive away win, either side of their loss at home to Hull KR on 10 March.

Friday's result left both sides with three wins from six games so far this term, six points behind leaders St Helens.

Wakefield coach Chris Chester: "That's the best victory since I've been in charge here. Seeing what we have had to go through during the game, losing two key players.

"It's been a special night, I'm really proud of the boys. In defence we were really good.

"Our game-management when we went down to 12 men was good."

On injuries to Tupou (knee) and Johnstone (foot), Chester added:

"They don't look great. It's a little bit early yet. Bill has a knee injury. Tom felt something go as he stepped off his foot.

"Bill's is as serous as Tom's and we will know more in the next 48 hours."

Hull coach Lee Radford: "That was nowhere near the standard of what we have done for five weeks previous. It was a bit like the atmosphere with the fans, you could hear a pin drop.

"The performance reflects that. You've got to give them something to cheer about.

"I thought it was very stop-start. We were playing against the biggest pack. Wakefield want to play stop-start."
