Tries: Lolohea Goals: Sutcliffe 3

Tui Lolohea returned from injury to score the only try as Leeds Rhinos handed Wakefield a fourth straight defeat.

Lolohea cashed in on a second-half breakaway to add to Leeds' six points from the boot of Liam Sutcliffe.

The Tongan ran most of the length of the field to score for the third-from bottom visitors as he made a successful return from an ankle injury.

It was the first time Leeds had shut out an opponent since July 2018.

Leeds stay 10th in Super League following their sixth win of the season but are now level with Wigan on 12 points.

After 15 scoreless minutes, Sutcliffe kicked a successful penalty to break the deadlock for Leeds and he added a second from close range on 28.

But, in atrocious weather conditions, there were no further scores before half-time with neither side threatening the try line.

The rain eased during half-time and Wakefield could have grabbed the game's first try on 51 minutes, but Ryan Hampshire could not gather a high pass from Junior Sa'u a couple of metres from the line.

Three minutes later, however, Leeds extended their lead with a breakaway try as Lolohea intercepted a pass from Kelepi Tanginoa deep inside his own half and raced clear to score in the corner.

Wakefield's Jack Croft did superbly to hold up Kallum Watkins on the try line and keep his side in it but Sutcliffe kicked another penalty to seal a 10-0 victory.

Interim Leeds coach Richard Agar:

"We've got to put it into perspective because some of the pressure that came our way in the first half was probably brought on by ourselves.

"But to focus on the positives, I'm just really proud of the effort and thought the commitment to each other defensively, even at times when we got broken, was superb.

"The accountability and discipline was great. It was always going to be a difficult night given the very, very tough conditions, so we always thought it was going to be a close game.

Wakefield head coach Chris Chester:

"I thought the performance was good but our execution was horrendous.

"We started the game really well and kicked really well but had some poor errors and ill discipline.

"The big turning point was when Kelepi went through but I thought he was outstanding tonight and played the 80 minutes."
