Ryan Wilson had to be replaced by Rob Harley in the first half at Murrayfield on Saturday

Back-row Ryan Wilson has been added to Scotland's long injury list and will miss the remainder of the Six Nations.

The Glasgow co-captain suffered knee ligament damage in Saturday's 22-13 loss to Ireland at Murrayfield.

Centre Huw Jones and full-back Stuart Hogg also picked up knee and shoulder injuries respectively.

Both remain part of Gregor Townsend's squad and will be assessed by a specialist this week before the trip to France on 23 February.

Wilson's absence will be keenly felt, with back-row forwards John Barclay, Hamish Watson, Sam Skinner, Dave Denton, Blade Thomson, John Hardie and Magnus Bradbury also already missing.

Glasgow's Rob Harley, who replaced Wilson against Ireland, and Newcastle's Gary Graham are likely to be the leading contenders to start in Paris.

To those who have questioned what Wilson brings to the team please re-watch the game on Saturday!
He was not on the pitch in the second half and it showed.
On top of all the other missing back row forwards he is a big loss!

Real shame, good player, appears to be a real leader. Hope he will be fit for the world cup, would be horrendous for him to miss out. Best of luck from this England fan.

Personally I do not mind the way he winds up the opposition in the same way Itoje&Sinkler do for England and Webb& Williams have done for Wales, but lets not ignore what he brings to the team. A great ball player who can play all back row positions and always put in a huge shift going forward and in defence.

Not a coincidence that our forward play dropped off when he was absent 2nd half.

Btw You can ask a similar question about many of the accents in the English/Welsh and Irish squads as well if you're genuinely interested.....or was that just a pathetic trolling attempt?

It's mental the number of idiots that still bang on about accents and heritage, considering every team has 'foreign' accents. Joey Carbery, CJ Stander, Quinn Roux, Van der Flier and Bundi Aki has beautiful Irish accents, don't they?

Big miss for the Scottish pack due to current injuries.

Not a fan of his professional behaviour but a good back row replacement when Scotland have Skinner, Barclay, Watson back fit.

Sore loss. With an already depleted squad coming into the 6Ns we risked losing more as the games when on. One wonders how many more we will lose as the games continue. I fear that the way england are playing just now by the time we get to twickers it could be another the re-run of the last time we went there. You have to admire the way the english are playing just now.

I see my post has upset a sensitive Englishman. Let me put it another way. If you've nothing nice to say, say nothing. Criticism's good, don't get me wrong (Scotland's biggest critics are Scots funnily enough), but some of you guys need to take a walk around the block and get some fresh air. You know who you are. The same classless people who come on every Scottish HYS and offer nothing but jibes.

16. Nick the #### - the article fails to mention Matt Fagerson and Hamilton at Edinburgh are also out. For a team with our limited resources that's just a killer. But yes, our endless errors were our own downfall.

While all teams have injuries in today’s high impact game due to Scotland’s much smaller pro player base it effects them to a greater degree, they currently have about 15 of there 1st choice World Cup squad out and if you look at the bench on Saturday a lot of them can’t even get a start for their club teams.

And please let’s stop with the accent slander pot calling the kettle etc.

Gregor wants to play fast quick rugby so to me it is rather obvious that speed of of ball from 9 to 10 is imperative. Quicker ball will allow Finn Russell to have more options at 10. So give Ali Price or George Horne a shot because I am 56 and have a quicker pass that Greg Laidlaw.

We were booing the ref.

That's what happens when 2 yellow card offenses go unpunished by the 12th minute

handling in ruck, offsides, crossing, obstruction, lack of TMO for one side, anauthorised use of TMO for the other, knock on's that weren't knock ons, overused advantages, delaying line outs.... the list goes on!

Unfortunately just a handful of injuries means a serious weakening of the squad because we have such a tiny number of players to choose from. As such we generally punch above our weight; any win over Ireland, Wales, France or England should be looked upon as an achievement as they all have so much more resource. It's a tragedy Scotland is so football-obsessed, particularly as we're so bad at it!

@85 I too would prefer no booing whatsoever, but the idea of Thomond Park being the bastion of Corinthian spirit is about as laughable as the idea that Peter O’Mahony, Keith Earls and Connor Murray are innocent (of anything!!!). Some of what happened at Murrayfield wasn’t great, but let’s not pretend others are perfect.

Was the conversion of Stockdale's fantastic try booed?
1st Try - the illegal hit on Hogg then the blatant blocking in the build up - not even checked - booing the officiating
3rd Try - clear forward pass - not checked - booing the officiating
Sexton almost always overruns the permitted time for kicking at goal but is never pulled up for it. That often results in the booing.

To be fair, if we had this many players out 5 years ago, Ireland would have put 60 past us.

It's testiment to the strength in depth that we now have that Saturday was competative, with the only real difference being a few errors from Scotland and the excellent refereeing of the game from Conor Murray.

Last thing Scotland needed was France getting thumped, a game we can win though

Another big loss for Scotland and another to the ever lengthening injury list.

Isn't it about time we stopped all this useless posturing about "overseas" players and just get on with enjoying the game we all love. They all meet the eligibility criteria, live with it! This debate is boring now and is starting to turn into rampant nationalism and racism which is never a good thing.

@44 compare that to Edinburgh though who have routinely finished stronger in the 2nd half of games but then again don't employ the same 100mph play, all of the time.

My concern with GT is that the team doesn't vary it's play enough. Slow it down for 5-10mins, structured build up play then light it up into the fast and furious. the change in tempo is often what catches defences out.

Scotland"s squad depth is now being seriously tested. Townsend has a really big job on his hands in the next couple of weeks. Scotland looking at the bad old days where a season was defined only by if they beat England or not.
