A man was forced to withdraw cash from an ATM by a male who threatened him with a Stanley knife, police have said.

Detectives are appealing for information following the report of the robbery in the Oxford Street area of Belfast in the early hours of Monday (March 18).

The suspect also stole the victim's iPhone 8 and debit card in the incident that occurred at approximately 1.30am.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: "The victim is not believed to have been injured, however he has been left very shocked by his ordeal.

"Detective Sergeant O’Flaherty would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information that could assist police with their enquiries to contact detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 777 18/03/19.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
