A Belfast mum has told of her disgust after motorcross bikes worth thousands were stolen from their home.
Police are investigating the theft from Emma Whitley’s house in the Village early on Wednesday morning.
One of the bikes belonged to her seven-year-old son.
She told Belfast Live: "Words can not describe how distraught and afraid my children now are that 'bad men' came onto our property and stole prized possessions.
"I have four children under the age of 10.
"We have grown up in this area and this is where should feel the most safe. My son is utterly heartbroken as says it is the sport he enjoyed most doing with daddy.
"What do I tell them when they go to bed? How do I stop them being scared? The thought people can just break in and take what they want. Why would some utter coward jeopardise children feeling safe in their own home is beyond words.
"If you want to make money get a job, do not destroy a family feeling of being safe in their own home.
"We appeal to the good nature of the motorcross community who we know are amazing to get the bikes back where they belong. If you think you might have seen our bikes or suddenly someone has a new one please please come forward to the PSNI with any information."
The PSNI confirmed that an investigation is underway.
The bikes were stolen between 1am and 8am on Wednesday.
Inspector James Murphy said: "The two bikes are a Suzuki rn250 and a Suzuki ktn65.
"We are appealing to anyone with information that might assist our enquiries to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 287 of 21/08/19.
"Alternatively, information can be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
