Two Co Armagh teenagers were knocked down in a hit and run incident on their way to school yesterday morning.

They were struck by a vehicle on the Loughgall Road, Portadown , at around 8am.

One girl suffered injuries and was treated by the PSNI at the scene and by by paramedics.

Police are trying to identify the driver, who it is claimed did not stop at the time.

The motorist is described as female and was driving a red or orange medium sized vehicle.

In an online post, a Craigavon PSNI spokesperson said: "This incident could very easily have ended in tragedy and although thankfully the injuries were minor in this case.

"It is completely incomprehensible how someone could drive on without stopping in this situation.

"Police enquiries are ongoing but if you know who the driver was, saw anything or maybe you were the driver yourself, please get in contact. The Police reference is 185 12/05/18."
