A teenager was knocked unconscious after falling on ice this morning.

Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to William Street in Lurgan just before 8.45am on Wednesday, January 23.

The 16-year-old boy had fallen on ice and temporarily lost consciousness. He was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital by ambulance.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 08:43 on Wednesday 23 January 2019, following reports that a 16 year old male had fallen on ice in William Street, Lurgan and had temporarily lost consciousness.

"NIAS despatched an Emergency crew to the scene. The Charity Air Ambulance HEMS team was also tasked to the incident.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, the patient was taken, by ambulance, to Craigavon Area Hospital."
