The weekend has got off to a sunny start for Northern Ireland with the mercury set to hit 18C today.

But what does the rest of the weekend have in store?

According to the Met Office , Saturday in Northern Ireland could be rather cloudy with patchy rain across the far west and for northern counties but most places dry.

The best of any brighter spells will be across Co Down and there will be occasionally strong southwesterly winds, with a maximum temperature of 17C.

For Sunday through to Tuesday, a Met Office forecaster said: "Cloudy with outbreaks of rain through much of Sunday but perhaps brighter later. Then mainly dry through Monday and Tuesday with clear or sunny spells and mainly light winds."
