The July Bank Holiday comes right in the middle of the Twelfth Fortnight , so a lot of people across Northern Ireland are off work anyway.

But the July Bank Holiday is a welcome one when it comes.

This year, because the Twelfth falls on a Friday, it means there's just one official day off work - on the day itself.

After the last couple of Bank Holidays falling in May, the next after July 12, marking the anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne in 1690, doesn't happen until August 27.

And sorry for the downer, but the next Bank Holiday after that doesn't happen until December with Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
