ARLINGTON — The Arlington Area Renewal Project's Arlington Village Farmers' Market is kicking off it's 2019 Season on Friday, June 21, from 4-6 p.m. on the grounds of the Arlington Inn at the junction of Routes 7A and 313 West in Arlington.

But this year, it's not just a Farmers Market. With live music weekly, the Arlington Inn's "Meet the Maker" series and small plates on the patio series during Farmers Market hours, an Artist's Corner showcasing a different local artist each week, and activities for the kids the Market will be a Friday happening for all ages.

Project leader Col. Jim Baker, says, ""We're amazed at how successful our 2018 Summer and Winter Markets were for both vendors and patrons. This year, we've more than doubled the number of vendors, added an Artist's Corner, will be hosting a POP program for kids, and have been included on state-wide promotional material. We look at the Market as the perfect opportunity for our community members to gather together and spend an enjoyable time with long-time friends and new ones, too."

Market vendors include several produce vendors, meats, cheeses, baked goods, relishes, jams and jellies, raw local honey, maple syrup, homemade candy and loads of other goods.

The Market "Artist's Corner" will showcase local artists working in wood, oils, photography, pottery, jewelry and other fine art media. The Market will also continue its commitment to community by offering free space to community organizations to showcase their value to our community and utilize the exposure for fundraising.

The POP program is new this year with special activities each Friday in August. Developed by the national Farmers Market Coalition, the Power of Produce (POP) Club provides a fun opportunity for children (ages 5-11) to engage in the local food system. At the POP Club you can meet local farmers, participate in a game or activity each week, try new foods, complete the two-bite challenge, collect colorful veggie and fruit sneaker charms, and earn POP Bucks! Sign up any week in June or July right at the market. The POP Club is free.

The Arlington Area Renewal Project is a totally volunteer group of involved residents focused on collaborating for the common good by bridging our long tradition with a vision for future opportunities.
