MANCHESTER — The Burr and Burton girls soccer team picked up its 10th win of the season with a 3-0 win against rival Rutland Thursday afternoon at Taylor Field.
Annette Zilkha started the scoring in the first half on a nice through ball and assist from Grace Pinkus.
Daisy O'Keefe scored later in the half with a cross from Pinkus.
During the second half, Pinkus tallied one of her own, her 20th goal of the season.
Carol Herbert had 12 saves in goal for BBA.
The Bulldogs move to 10-2 and play Mount Anthony next Thursday at Applejack Stadium for Senior Night.
LTS falls in 2OT
DORSET — The Long Trail girls soccer team lost a heartbreaker to West Rutland Thursday afternoon, falling 3-2 in double overtime.
The Golden Horde jumped out with two quick goals in the first half.
Molly Sanderson cut the lead to one with a goal later in the half on an assist from Kathryn Dugan.
Dugan got on the board herself early in the second half on an assist from Sanderson.
Both teams had equal scoring chances in the second half and the first overtime as both keepers came up strong for their side.
West Rutland finally broke through for the winning goal midway through the second overtime, taking advantage of a 1-on-1 opportunity.
Long Trail drops to 2-8 on the year and hosts Twin Valley on Monday afternoon.
Waterford blanks Hoosick
HOOSICK, N.Y. — The Hoosick Falls boys soccer team couldn't find the back of the net in a 5-0 loss to Waterford Thursday afternoon.
Nate Powell led the way with three goals for the Fordians, while Jason Cordts and Tyler Galarneau had one apiece.
Goalkeeper Roman Vyvial had seven saves for the Panthers.
Hoosick Falls hosts Mechanicville on Monday for Senior Night at 6:30 p.m.
Warriors down Cambridge
STILLWATER, N.Y. — The Cambridge boys soccer fell to league foe Stillwater 5-1 Thursday night.
The Warriors jumped out to an early advantage, scoring four goals before the halftime break.
The Indians equaled Stillwater after the half, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
Cambridge drops to 6-4-1 and plays Tamarac at home on Monday.
BBA third on Wednesday
WOODSTOCK — The Burr and Burton mountain biking team continued its season Wednesday competing against 13 teams on a tough course with ample climbing in Woodstock.
The Bulldogs took third place overall with top point scorers including seniors Leah Mowry and Harriet Dahlstrom, sophomore Ned Swartzentruber and juniors Grace Distasio and Devan Kajah.
Podium finishes included Mowry and Dahlstrom taking second and third in the A-class and Distasio winning a tight sprint to the finish to take third in the B-class.
The Bulldogs continue their season Saturday at Kimball Union Academy.
VBCA basketball clinic
COLCHESTER — The Vermont Basketball Coaches' Association is set to host its annual fall clinic later in the month.
The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 26 and 27 at St. Michael's College.
Interested people can attend St. Michael's basketball practices on that Saturday and mingle with other Vermont Coaches.
The clinic is that Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

MAU youth night
BENNINGTON — The Mount Anthony boys is set to host its annual youth night on October 11 against Hartford 6 p.m.
All youth athletes who are in their uniform will get in for free.
There will be small game hosted at halftime and a raffle for a signed soccer ball.
