ARLINGTON — The Arlington girls soccer team was well-represented on the Vermont all-state team, with five selections, following an 11-6 season where the Eagles advanced to the Division IV state semifinals.
Lilah Ward, Lilith Fuchs, Haley Mattison, Schuylar Nolan and Amiah Olson earned the honor.
Ward, who switched from defense to midfield early in the season, scored a team-high 23 goals during her senior season.
Mattison and Fuchs were dominant scorers as well netting 18 and 17 goals respectively.
Olson and Nolan anchored a defense that allowed 1.6 goals per game.
Jordan Mattison was the lone Mount Anthony girls selection.
The senior scored seven goals, good for second on the Patriots, and was constantly setting up teammates for scoring opportunities.
The Burr and Burton girls had two all-state selections.
Senior Grace Pinkus earned the honor after a 23-goal season, where she scored more than half of BBA's goals.
Rebecca Montaufray was also selected to the team. She scored one of the two goals in a win against MAU in the Lady Patriot Classic championship game.
Long Trail's Molly Sanderson and Kathryn Dugan earned all-state honors.
Sanderson led the Mountain Lions with 19 goals, accounting for 58 percent of their offense.
Dugan was second on the team with 11 goals.
On the boys side, Arlington racked up four all-state selections.
Lewis Whalen highlights that group, following a 24-goal season for the Eagles.
Alberto Lopez had 16 goals, good for second on the team.
Matthew Richie was an eight-goal scorer, while controlling the midfield, and Kolby Wilkins led a defense that allowed 1.4 goals per game.
The BBA boys had two selections, in Jayden Bloom and Will Fox.
Bloom led the Bulldogs in goals with 12, while Fox had eight in limited action due to injury.
Defender Oisin Harrington was the lone all-state selection from the Long Trail boys.
Wasaren League all-stars
HOOSICK, N.Y. — The Adirondack-Wasaren League announced its field hockey all-stars Monday afternoon, with a handful of Hoosick Falls players making the team.
Zoe Gress, Lyric Kriner, Madelyn Kasulinous and Ayla Fauler were named to the Wasaren League first team.
Eva Helft, Katie Weeden, Emma McCart and Catherine Kennedy made the second team, while Macy Lindsey was a honorable mention.

In addition to being knowledgeable about the sport and having the ability to teach sport-specific skills, candidates should be able to provide vigorous educational experiences, teach respect for individual differences, demand the highest standards of performance and behavior, foster a mindset of perseverance and establish a supportive and caring community.

New England Colonials looking for players
RUTLAND — The NEC International Basketball Club is pleased to announce its 40th Anniversary Ambassadors Tour.
The club has been invited to visit and play by teams in Europe and Dubai in April 2020.
The team is looking to enroll ten Vermont high school players (boys in grades 9-12) for this ten-day tour.
This is a competitive tour for players with JV and varsity experience and a sense of adventure.
The Vermont Colonials will begin its tour in Luxembourg City where they will represent the USA in the annual Sparta Bertrange Easter Tournament which draws teams from around the world. After games in Frankfurt, Germany, the team will fly on to Dubai where they will be hosted by the Greenfield International School.
The NEC International Basketball Club is a nonprofit, volunteer-run program that has as its central purpose the support and encouragement of international friendship and understanding between New England student-athletes and their peers around the world. Our Colonials fundraising program has helped numerous New England players raise all or most of the money needed to cover their tour expenses.
