RUTLAND — The Mount Anthony girls soccer team was down a goal in the second half, but came back to win 2-1 against rival Rutland Saturday afternoon.

Erin McClallen scored for the Raiders 10 minutes into the second half, but MAU's Jordan Mattison netted two goals the rest of the way to pick up the win for the Patriots.

MAU improves to 4-5 on the season and hosts Brattleboro on Thursday.

Cambridge dominates Cougars

LATHAM, N.Y. — The Cambridge girls soccer team had no issues finding the back of the net in a 8-0 win against Canajoharie Saturday afternoon.

Vanessa Evans had a hat trick, while Sophie Phillips tallied two goals.

Anna Headwell, Sydney Benson and Ruthie Nolan all had one goal.

The Indians move to 5-3 on the season and host Spa Catholic today at 4:15 p.m.

MAU wrestlers at Journeymen

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Two Catamount/Mount Anthony wrestlers competed at the 2019 Journeymen Fall Classic this past weekend.

Sam Wilkins was second in the 182A weight class. He won a pair of matches by decision and lost two by decision as well.

In the 152A weight class, Keegan Coon was third. He had a forfeit win against Steven Rochard and dropped a trio of other matches in the tournament.

Four score for BBA

BRATTLEBORO — The Burr and Burton girls soccer team remains unbeaten in Southern Vermont League action after picking up a 4-0 win against Brattleboro Saturday afternoon.

Rowan Russell got the scoring going off an assist from Annette Zilkha eight minutes into the first half.

Grace Pinkus netted her 19th goal of the year later in the half on a free kick.

In the second half, Julia Brand scored on an Ada Perry assist and Zilkha finished the scoring off a corner kick from Pinkus.

Carol Herbert made five saves in goal for the Bulldogs.

BBA moves to 9-2 on the season and hosts Rutland on Thursday.

Panthers lose in OT

LATHAM, N.Y. — The Hoosick Falls girls soccer team lost a heartbreaker Saturday afternoon against Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville, losing 3-2 in double overtime.

The Panthers scored both of their goals in the first half, while OESJ had both its tallies in the second half.

The first overtime period went scoreless, before the Wolves ended it in the second overtime.

Sophie Estes and Phoebe Thomson were the goal scorers for Hoosick.

Hoosick Falls drops to 5-3 and plays Hoosic Valley on the road today at 4:15 p.m.

Raiders top MAU

RUTLAND — The Mount Anthony boys soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to Rutland Saturday afternoon.

Joe Giancola and Ollie Hamilton scored two quick goals to put the Raiders up 2-0.

Nate Potter scored the lone MAU goal on a penalty kick, before Rutland added two more goals the rest of the way.

Ethan LaBatt made seven saves for the Patriots in the loss.

MAU drops to 2-6-1 and plays Brattleboro at home on Friday.

Cambridge blanks Salem

SALEM, N.Y. — The Cambridge boys soccer team and Salem squared off on a Saturday morning with the Indians winning 4-0.

Halfway through the first half, Ori Baker-Porazinski scored on a through ball from Charlie Dill.

After halftime, with the score still 1-0, Cambridge tallied three goals, one from Aiden Gifford, another from Jake Haynes, on a beautiful shot in the corner of the goal, and the last by Baker-Porazinski.

Camrbidge improves to 5-3 and hosts Spa Catholic on Tuesday.
