MANCHESTER — The Burr and Burton field hockey team saw its four-game winning streak snapped, with a 3-1 loss to Rutland Friday afternoon at Taylor Field.

Rutland jumped on the board first with a goal from Katie Sunderland, set up by Jenna Sunderland, with 23 minutes, 16 seconds left in the first half.

The Raiders held onto that 1-0 head until halftime and struck again quickly after the break.

Katie Sunderland scored her second of the day with 28:43 left in the game, getting an assist from Stefanie Allen.

Jenna Sunderland got in on the scoring act midway through the second half, before BBA got on the board with an Ava Walsh tally on an Arden Wojtach helper with less than five minutes to play.

Goalies Hannah Callen (BBA) and Zoey Urich (Rutland) both had four saves.

"Rutland came out strong and set us back on our heels a bit. We did not move to the ball the way that we usually do during the first half," said Bulldogs coach Barb Miceli. "However, we played a great second half - the girls really pulled it together and we were able to play our fast passing game during the last 20 minutes of the game."

"Our turn around was sparked by level-headed, inspired play from Efremia Geralis, Riley Callen and Emma Hall," Miceli said.
