CYCLISTS are being called on for the fourth annual Westminster to Islip Big Bike Ride.

Some 300 cyclists are expected to take to their saddles and cycle the streets from Westminster Abbey to Islip, north Oxfordshire, the birthplace of Edward the Confessor, who founded the abbey.

It will be held on Sunday, May 12, and aims to attract people of all ages to take part in the main ride, but also three other rides of varying distances.

Dan Levy, chairman of organising committee 'The Big Bike Ride’ project, said: "This bike ride is a real community partnership and we hope that it will be a fantastic day with lots of people from the village and beyond involved.

"We are looking for lots more riders to sign up and for volunteers to help on the day."

The event raises money for Friends of Dr South’s School and St Nicholas Church.
