The Black Country is full pubs, but it can be tricky to figure out where to go with with the family.

Cheap and cheerful, not only is it a great place to get a burger and cheesy chips for the kids, you can bring man’s best friend as well.

The steaks come highly recommended and every Wednesday is Burger Night meaning you can get a range of burgers for £3.99. Not bad if you’re looking for a way to feed the kids for under a fiver.

Goodwin’s Restaurant and Bar

Old Hill, Tettenhall

Great place to take the family on a Sunday afternoon. Often praised for the warm and friendly atmosphere the menu has a range of goodies, from a traditional sunday roast to burgers, lasagne and fish and chips.

Tucked away in Tettenhall, it’s a good way to get away from the hustle and bustle of city centre without having to drive too far.

The Barley Mow

If you’re looking for good pub grub for both you and the kids, it’s worth checking out The Barley Mow. It’s received raved reviews on TripAdvisor and has been praised as a great place for your kids and is dog-friendly to boot.

If you haven’t experience good old fashioned Black Country Pie (where have you been), The Barley Mow has been praised for its a range of “delicious” pies and steaks.

For the adults, this pub has a decent range of real ales worth trying out.

Newbridge

You can get a cheap carvery every day of the week so it’s a great place to go to keep the kids’ bellies full without parting with too much cash.

They’ve got a special menu for the little 'uns as well as a ‘Young at Heart’ menu for pub-goers over 60 so every member of your family is catered for.

If carvery doesn’t do it for you there are a range of pub classics, burgers and pizzas so the kids will be spoilt for choice.

Nickelodeon

If you’ve just taken the kids bowling or to the cinema in Bentley Bridge and want to take them somewhere a bit more homely than Maccies or KFC, the Nickelodeon pub is a good shout.

Cheap and cheerful, depending on when you go you can sometimes get a good “two for” deal and plenty of dishes under a tenner. Makes sure you leave room for dessert!

There’s a kids menu and activities to keep the little uns occupied.


Oddfellows Hall

This pub is a treat for both children and adults. For the whole family there's the relaxed atmosphere with food that's just a bit fancier than the typical pub grub. For the grown ups there's a beer garden, range of real ales and live tribute bands on select evenings.

For the little 'uns there's a special kids menu, children's meal deals and a play area so they can burn off the extra energy.

The George Wallis

11-15 Victoria Street

Also in the city centre, this one is opposite Beatties and next door to where the old Pizza Hut used to be. Perfect if you're looking for somewhere to take a well-earned break in the middle of your shopping trip and what to feed the kids without emptying your purse.

It's got a two meals for £8.99 menu as well as an Aunty Edna's Pie Kitchen section so you're spoilt for choice when it comes to refuelling for more heavy-duty shopping.

The Greyhound

The Greyhound has received a lot of love on TripAdvisor especially for its traditional Black Country delicacy, faggots and mash with mushy peas! If that's not to your child's fancy, no matter, the menu is filled with a range of option from homemade chilli con carne to fish and chips.

Nestled in the countryside, it's very popular with families especially on Sundays and your dog is always welcome.

The Fox at Shipley

There's an outdoor play area for the children and plenty of outdoor seating so The Fox is very family-friendly . The pricing is reasonable so you won't have to break the bank to feed the troops and the menu has a wide variety so everyone should be able to find something they like to eat.


The Springhill

Last but not least on the list is The Springhill. It's another pub that's received a lot of love on TripAdvisor. It's slightly more upmarket than your average pub grub, offering dishes like tandoori monkfish, lamb shank and mussels.

The staff have been described as reliable and attentive and it's a great place to take the whole family for an evening out.
