West Midlands Police has launched an urgent investigation after a man was injured when a row between neighbours turned violent and gunshots were fired.

Emergency crews swooped on Fardale Avenue – in the Whitmore Reans area of Wolverhampton– after trouble flared just before midnight on Tuesday, March 19.

According to police, two shots were fired following the disorder and a man was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

An ambulance and two paramedic officers – including a specialist doctor – was also sent to the scene.

The road was sealed off for a number of hours after the shooting as officers combed the area for clues.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: "It is believed two shots were fired following a disorder between neighbours and as a result a man suffered injuries to his head, which are not believed to be serious."

While a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 11.52pm last night to reports of an incident in Farndale Avenue.

“We sent one ambulance and two paramedic officers and one merit trauma doctor.

“We have treated we patient - a man - for relatively minor injuries and they have been taken to hospital for further treatment.”
