A major investigation has been launched after a pub was damaged during a drive-by shooting in Wolverhampton.

Emergency crews – including armed police – sealed off Riches Street, Whitmore Reans, near to The Newhampton Inn after the weapon was fired from the vehicle.

Residents in the area said the ‘shooting’ was ‘gang-related’ and three shots rang out at around 6.30pm on Tuesday, August 6.

There were no reports of any injuries but the building was damaged, West Midlands Police confirmed.

A spokeswoman said: "Officers are investigating after being called to Riches Street, in the Whitmore Reans area of Wolverhampton, just after 6.30pm, to reports of gunshots being fired from a vehicle.

"Damage has been caused to a pub on the road but fortunately there are no reported injuries and anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight or call 101 anytime, quoting log number 2040 of August 6.
