A police car was rammed during an early morning pursuit with a  car in Wolverhampton.

Officers came across a Vauxhall Corsa on the Bilston Road at around 4.20am yesterday morning (May 23).

A police chase ensued in which a cop car was rammed before the vehicle left the scene. The force spotted the car abandoned half a mile away and detained two men.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We’ve arrested two men after pursuing a stolen car in Wolverhampton yesterday morning  (May 23).

“The Vauxhall Corsa was spotted by officers in Bilston Road at around 4.20am and rammed into a police vehicle before making off.

“The car was abandoned in Christopher Road, Wolverhampton, and two men were traced and detained nearby.

“A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of offences including theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous and drink driving and failing to stop.

“He has now been charged with drink driving, failing to stop, aggravated vehicle taking and driving while disqualified. He has been remanded to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court tomorrow (May 25).

“A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. He has now been released with no further action.”
