It's been a scorching Bank Holiday weekend in Birmingham with temperatures higher than Madrid.

The West Midlands has basked in a mini-heatwave with a super-sunny Easter Sunday hitting highs of 24°C.

Yet the blistering weather is set to come to an end - at 1pm on Wednesday to be precise.

That's when the Met Office predicts the sunshine will be replaced by clouds - and heavy rain will come down.

The soaring temperatures have seen children enjoy their Easter break with the mercury rising way above the average for the time of year.

The record temperature for Easter Sunday in England is 25.3C reached in Solent, Hampshire, in April 2011.

Easter Monday in Birmingham will be sunny and very warm, though hazy at times, according to the Met Office.

It's set to turn a little breezier but temperatures should climb to a whopping 24°C.

Tuesday will also be very warm with plenty of sunshine .

But watch out for thunderstorms which are likely to spread northwards on Wednesday, introducing cooler conditions and heavy rain.

Thursday will remain unsettled with sunshine and showers.

Monday:

Easter Monday will be sunny and very warm, though the sunshine could become hazy at times later on in the day. Turning a little breezier than of late. Maximum temperature 24°C.

Tuesday will be very warm with plenty of sunshine. However, thunderstorms are likely to spread northwards on Wednesday, introducing cooler conditions. Thursday will remain unsettled with sunshine and showers.
