A talented Birmingham theatre group will achieve fame at last in its new production - the smash hit 1980s musical Fame!

With a cast of 34, Youth Onstage (YOS) aim to get audiences dancing in the aisles as they bring the lives and trials at the New York School of Performing Art to life.

And it is set to be an exhausting and exhilarating night, with music ranging from classical to pop and rap and dance moves from ballet to modern and hip-hop.

Formed in 2002, performing arts group YOS has members aged from nine to 25 and a track record of producing future stars.

One its long standing members Gibsa Bah is playing the part of Tyrone Jackson and travels each week from WAC Arts in London for rehearsals.

Another star in the show is Hannah Brook. Now aged 25, she first performed with YOS at the age of nine.

Ellie Burley who is taking on the lead role of Carmen in Fame.

And taking the lead role of Carmen will be Ellie Burley, who is also through to the final heats of Miss England.

A YOS spokeswoman said: “We are privileged to have such a talented, dedicated group of young people. and this looks like being a great show.

“It tells the story of various students through their four year course and we seem them coming to terms with life and relationships - we see those who persevere, who are resilient and who are not.”

YOS has a track record of of hit shows including a recent production of Legally Blonde.

The show will be staged at The Old Rep Theatre in Birmingham from Thursday, May 2 to Saturday, May 4 with performances at 2.30pm and 7.30pm on the final day.
