The family of a man tragically killed on the M5 have paid tribute.

Valin Stephenson, known as Steve to many, died when he was struck by oncoming traffic on the M5 near to Frankley Services.

The 57-year-old, from Frankley, was pronounced dead at the scene on Saturday, November 3.

His grieving family has released a picture of Valin holding two of his children.

In a statement, his family said: “Valin Stephenson was a father, son, brother and grandfather.

"He was a lovely, kind and genuine man.

"He leaves behind the grandmother of his son and daughter, brothers, grandson and ex-partner.”

“He will be remembered as a hard-working, kind-hearted, intelligent, warm and funny gentleman, who loved to grin!

"He would do anything for anybody, we love and miss him so much.

“He leaves behind so many loved ones including his son, daughters, brother, sister and grandmother.

“We would like to thank the emergency services for the care and respect they have given both Valin and the family.

"Also, to the many friends and neighbours who have passed on their thoughtful and caring messages to us.”

West Mercia Police is continuing to investigate the collision.
