Another police officer has been injured on duty in Birmingham.

The officer was hurt when they took part in a stop and search operation in Sparkbrook on Friday night.

It comes just two weeks after PC Gareth Phillips, aged 42, was left badly-injured after being run over in Moseley . A man has been charged with attempted murder.

They said it happened during a "proactive operation" in Sparkbrook on Friday night.

This resulted in four people being arrested and four vehicles recovered.

A number of stop and searches were carried out and this resulted in drugs and cash being recovered.

They tweeted that it was during this, the officer was hurt.

"An officer unfortunately sustained an injury requiring medical attention.

"Thankfully the officer's injuries have been treated and they are ready to go back out to play."
