Police are searching for a missing teenager from Birmingham who went missing while snorkelling off the Dorset coast.

Oscar Montgomery,  aged 17, was last seen near Church Ope Cove, Portland, at about 5pm on Wednesday.

His disappearance has caused a huge search operation including helicopters from the coastguard, the navy and police, along with RNLI lifeboats and two navy warships.

Dorset Police said it was carrying out searches along the coastline involving both foot patrols and divers.

Police said Oscar, who was believed to be from the Birmingham area, was wearing a wetsuit, black flippers and a black snorkell.

Oscar is described as white and of a slim muscular build with brown hair and a small slit in his left eyebrow. He was wearing a dark-coloured wetsuit with black flippers and a black snorkel.

Officers have been carrying out searches, assisted by HM Coastguard, RNLI, Dorset Search and Rescue and the NPAS helicopter.

Chief Inspector Lance Cliff, of Dorset Police, said: “We are extremely concerned for Oscar and I am appealing to anyone who may have knowledge as to his whereabouts to please contact police immediately.

“I would be keen to hear from anyone who was out in the water in the area and recalls seeing a diver matching the description given and may have information that could help us find Oscar.”
