Ambulance staff across the Midlands have been left "devastated" by the death of a much-loved colleague.

Paramedic Kelly Davis, a former Great Barr School pupil who lived in Tamworth , was understood to have died on Wednesday night.

A colleague said she worked shifts at West Midlands Ambulance Service's Erdington hub.

A string of tributes were paid to the 39 year old and a fundraising drive was launched to cover her funeral costs.

Assistant chief ambulance officer Nathan Hudson said his staff were heartbroken and offered them his support.

In a tweet, he wrote: "We have lost a well-respected, much-loved member of our family.
