Birmingham City goalkeeper David Stockdale's future remains up in the air, despite sending a parting message to Coventry City.

Stockdale has played twice for the Sky Blues after moving to the club on an emergency loan.

He has performed admirably in his two appearances, helping Coventry to two wins and two clean sheets in the process.

He tweeted on Sunday morning saying: "Thanks for all of the @Coventry_City people for making me feel welcome. Loved my time. What a great talented team and staff. Was my pleasure to wear the shirt. All the best"

However, according to our sister title CoventryLive , Stockdale remains on call and should the Sky Blues first choice stopper Lee Burge not recover in time he will deputise again.

Coventry manager Mark Robins was full of praise for the 33-year-old: “He’s a proper goalkeeper. He has a lot of experience and plays at a higher level and commands the area and his kicking is good.

“He’s vocal and that’s the goalkeeper at the next level, so really good from him. He commanded his area whenever they got in the penalty box, which they did a few times, but he relieved the pressure by coming and claiming the ball."

Stockdale has fallen out of favour at St Andrews in recent times and he said despite wanting to fight for his place, he has accepted his future may lie elsewhere.

“I’m just not in the manager’s plans, which is football. Hopefully something comes along in the summer.

“I’ve got another year on my contract. I’d like to fight for my place but sometimes that’s not possible.

“So sometimes these are the types of things you have to do to get games.”
