The Easter weekend always proves to be dramatic every season and Good Friday certainly did not disappoint, with significant results at both ends of the table.

The biggest news came at Elland Road where promotion-chasing Leeds United lost 2-1 to ten-man relegation-threatened Wigan Athletic, allowing Sheffield United to claim an advantage in the hunt for promotion.

At the bottom, Rotherham United lost 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller to Swansea City and edged closer to relegation from the Championship, while Bolton’s fate was confirmed following defeat to playoff hopefuls Aston Villa.

More drama is set to follow on Easter Monday and we have identified everything that can be sealed below.

Title race

Norwich City can move seven points clear at the top with victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the evening kick-off on Friday and, should they clinch all three points, could then seal the title on Monday.

For that to happen, the Canaries would need Sheffield United and Leeds United to lose.

Automatic promotion

If the Canaries do not win the title on Monday, they could at least seal a return to the Premier League if they beat Sheffield Wednesday on Friday evening and then see either Leeds United or Sheffield United fail to win their matches.

Playoff spots

West Brom will become the fourth side to seal a playoff spot on Monday if they beat Reading, or if Bristol City lose to Sheffield Wednesday. A draw would also be enough if the Robins lose.

Victory for Middlesbrough would bring an end to any small hopes that Preston North End and Hull City have on securing a playoff spot.

Relegation

With Ipswich Town and Bolton Wanderers already seeing League One football secured next season, there is just one remaining spot in the relegation zone.

Rotherham can not be mathematically relegated on Monday but would be on the brink if they lose to Birmingham City and Millwall beat Aston Villa, as their goal difference is significantly less.

A win or a draw for Birmingham would be enough to secure their Championship status for another year, while both Reading and Wigan will be safe if they win and Rotherham fail to do so.
