Alvaro Gimenez hit the ground running in his full debut for Birmingham City.

The Spanish striker marked his first start with a composed 77th minute finish which gave Blues a morale-boosting 2-0 victory .

Gimenez came off the bench at Nottingham Forest but for many it was a first sighting of the new €1.5 million summer signing.

This is what Blues fans made of the 28-year-old.

Corey Gibb: Class

Reece Wood: Was never in the game but sign of a good striker to take he’s chance when it came, the touch and finish was exceptional confidence thrived after it chasing the ball down and everything

Carleton J Fuller: Not a bad player. Needs more time but took his goal very well and see he can become a good player with juke. Look forward to seeing more of him as we need 2 up top

Scott Bird: Looks very decent player to me after last night once players get used to his movements he made some good runs but never got the ball puts himself about a bit also

Neil Wright: It will take time to settle in but the more he plays along side Juke they will get a better understanding of each other

Mike Radford: Too similar to juke can’t see it working looks decent tho

@T1987Adam: Took his goal well, good close control, he’s gonna need good quality service to score goals, box man.

@JohnR200: I thought he looked very promising. Took his goal really well with a composed finish. He’ll take some time to get used to the Championship but if he gets a run of games who knows how good he might be.

Chris Pugh: Not sure he wants the ball sent into channels too often, but if we get it into his feet he showed excellent control and link up with Juke, and took his goal very nicely indeed, which I hope does his confidence the world of good

@woodybcfc: 1st half thought he struggled. 2nd half worked hard, movement was good and more importantly got closer to Juke and worked well with him. Finish was superb, as was the ball from Seddon

@AB18751: Great composure for the goal, had a nice first touch. Not sure he’s really a partner for Juke, we seriously lack pace up front, a few times we tried to break and couldn’t because of the lack of mobility. Think he will mainly be an impact sub. Would be more effective with wingers.

Birmingham City V Barnsley at St Andrew's Trillion Trophy Stadium in the Sky Bet championship match, with, new signings Alvaro Gimenez

@Woodzzig: Che wouldn’t have scored that!

@bluenoseed: Similar to Jordon Rhodes. We need to play to his strengths though. He is not a straight Che replacement

@RussHill9: Really liked him. Some lovely touches and I thought he was already starting to read Jukes game and linked up well. I think that could be a decent partnership given time. Lovely finish too. It’s a yes from me.

@deansmith1975: Modern day Howard forrinton, took his goal superbly though

@GuyMaxwell4: I thought he was very good. Good touch, movement, linked up well, great finish. More of that and I’ll be less worried where our goals are coming from

@chr1shorton: He’s not a Che Adams replacement, looked decent though. I can’t help but think if we’re gonna play him and Juke the delivery from wide areas needs to be a lot better. Play to their strengths.

@bluenos96498017: all over the pitch. looks a real grafter who can score goals

@dingdangdoo87: Very impressed
