Birmingham City fans have responded to claims from Frank Lampard that Derby County struggled because of the long grass at St Andrews.

Derby came from behind twice in a thrilling first half for both sides to take a point from the game.

"We dealt with a lot of their stuff other than the set-pieces, obviously, and we tried to play on what was a difficult pitch, it was very dry and (the grass was) very long," Lampard said.

"It was difficult for us to play the way we want to play because they defend as a block, but I thought the players adapted brilliantly to the game.

"We had to compete in the air, compete for second balls. They had chances, but they are going to if they are playing direct into our box a lot.

"There is a lot of desire in the dressing room and that’s why I’m proud of them."

In the second half both sides exchanged chances but it  was Blues who had the best of it when they hit the post.

Here's how the Bluenoses have reacted to Lampard's excuse.

Trevor Perks: Dont both teams play on the same pitch at the same time these days?

Aron Burton: reminded me of mourinho

Bruce Merrison: got respect for Frank but its lame excuse all the big boys apart from vile and borough we have performed KRO

Mark Bellion: Lampard, your a good coach, but going to make yourself look daft with such stupid remarks. Blues have become a hard team to beat in their own backyard, end of. As we KRO.

John Noonan: Excuses! Excuses! Just face it Lampard you could not break us down and who had more shots on target? The Blues

Gez Turner: Wow, that has got to be the lamest of excuses Frank, give your head a wobble.

Marc Aspery: They were just as long ball as we were. And they haven't won away all year. Is the grass too long at every other ground Frank?

Mark Andrew Adams: Lol haven’t heard anything like it apart from 20 years ago when we lost 3-0 at Stockport and our very own TF said the same

Dawn Farrington: What a stupid excuse I dont believe it lmfao

Lee Williams: The strength of the bench he had, and they still couldn't beat us. We were by far the more offensive team second half , and wanted it more. Sour grapes

Tom D: Only one team wanted to win at the end not the play off chasing team for sure hung on for a point
