Birmingham City suffered their first home defeat of the season as they lost 1-0 to Bristol City at St Andrew's.

A fifth goal of the campaign from Famara Diedhiou proved to be enough and secured the Robins their second win in seven league games.

The match was a fiery one, with as many as three penalty calls for the home side over the 90 minutes.

We sent Ethan Georgiou out after the game to speak to some of the Blues fans.

He asked fans what they thought about their sides disappointing performance and whether they believed any of the penalty calls should have been given.

One supporter said: “They didn’t play as good as they have done and today nobody was on it. I think the referee was shocking and Jutkiewicz should have had a definite penalty.”

What did Monk have to say?

"I feel hugely frustrated for my players.

"I said before this game that we are coming into a period in the next couple of months where a lot of games are going to be decided on really small margins and certain decisions going your way or not.

"Today we were on the wrong end of both, within the game the margins were clear, their margin went in and ours hit the post.

"Then we had three penalty appeals turned down, it was incredible how we didn't get at least one of them.

Birmingham City manager Garry Monk

"But that's what you need in these tight games.

"Maghoma's is clear - the first one. There's not only one contact there's two contacts off two different players. His next step is to take a strike at goal.

"It's quite baffling how that one hasn't come in. Then the second one Che's pushed to the ground inside the area.

"The third one there's contact, we were told the ref said he has gone down too easily but there is contact.

"The margins on the pitch went for them, clear decisions went against us - those things are out of our control. That's why I feel so frustrated for the players.

"We didn't deserve to lose that game at all today. They competed hard, we competed hard and they fell the right side of decisions and scoring their goal."
