Tony Mowbray will make late calls on a number of his Blackburn Rovers players who haven’t trained all week, ahead of this weekend’s trip to Birmingham City.

Mowbray, who picked up the Championship Manager of the Month award for January, has struggled in February and Rovers are intent on halting their poor run of form at St Andrew’s.

They may not be at full strength, however, as the manager revealed that he’s had to contend with a host of absentees this week while preparing for the fixture.

“We’re waiting on one or two, I’d have to say,” Mowbray told iFollow Rovers.

“We’re waiting on training tomorrow to see if they can come through as there are a few that haven’t trained this week.

“But I’m pretty confident that they’ll pull their boots on, train, and be part of the team when we head to Birmingham on Saturday.”

Mowbray added that he’s expecting a fight for the points on Saturday against a Blues side above his own in the league table.

“We know it’s a tough test for us against a powerful, strong, well organised team. It’s a good test for us and one that we have to stand up to,” he added.

“We’ll try and play are football. We’re aware that we need to get back to winning ways very quickly and this is the next opportunity for us.”
