Tyrone Mings could hardly be more popular at Aston Villa at the moment.

His goal-scoring contribution to Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers was the latest in a string of impressive performances since joining on loan from Bournemouth in January.

The defender has been a rock in defence for Dean Smith, helping Villa to five consecutive wins and a spot in the play-offs.

Mings’ header against Blackburn was his second goal in claret and blue having also found the net in the 3-3 draw against Sheffield United in February.

Tyrone Mings

The 26-year-old might be a firm fan favourite in the West Midlands, but how is he viewed back at his parent club?

We checked out the Bournemouth Vital forum to find out.

CanadianCherry: I do wonder how this will all end. Mings seems to be on fire at Villa. Scored the winner (his 2nd goal there now). It does appear that he too good for the Championship. The question is, does he have a future with us? And I guess the other question is, if not, how much money will we get for him? He signed a new contract in 2017, so he better not be cheap if we do sell.

Aston Villa 2 Blackburn 1 - The best bits

Gareth Southgate watched Aston Villa squeeze past Blackburn as the claret and blues recorded a fifth straight win.

The England boss made it his mission to check out Jack Grealish up close and personal after receiving rave reviews following the midfielder’s return from injury.

But on an afternoon of high drama, it wasn’t just Grealish who left a lasting impression on the Three Lions chief.

Tammy Abraham scored his 22nd goal of the season to open the scoring and Tyrone Mings headed home a second - the latter leaving Southgate with food for thought after another colossal display in the heart of defence.

Amari'i Bell pulled one back for Rovers, but Villa held on and moved up to fifth.

McGinn reckons Southgate’s weekend visit to Villa Park is a clear sign that the club are firmly on the up.

And the ‘proud Scot’ also believes a clutch of current claret and blue stars will be joining him as a fully-fledged international in the not-so-distant future.

Jack Grealish was the centre of attention during Villa’s 2-1 win over Rovers as Southgate wanted to take a closer look at his qualities.

But McGinn reckons the 23-year-old is not the only one on the radar.

Danafcb1: I wouldn't want him here just because of stamping fetish personally. Must be worth £8-10 mil now though.

Neil Dawson: I’d have him back in a flash. Tall commanding fast centre back looking dominant in a league we just paid money to get Mepham from. I hope we haven’t fallen out with him.

Wimborne Cherries: Think it was very clear when he didn't make the bench for the Brighton cup game that he has no future with us. His time with us is definitely done. Not sure Villa will be able to afford him though so will be interesting to see what Championship club stump up the cash.

Fronkle: Once you are on Eddie's s*** list, you are gone.

Ivyhouse: I can see a scenario of Villa claiming the last play off place and then anything can happen. We could yet see Tyrone starring in the Premiership.

Bigfatolly: From the little I've seen of Mings for us in the Premier League, I think he looks ordinary, and also his body language was that of a rabbit in the headlights.

Fans admit they weren't sure about Mings at first - that's changed!
