Welcome to BirminghamLive's round-up of all the latest Premier League transfer news.

Let's start at Old Trafford where there's talk about new players and new owners.

On his way

Manchester United are ready to sell £75million striker Romelu Lukaku as they look to bring in one of Serie A’s top hit men, according to reports

Mirror Football claims that talks have already begun with Juventus and Inter Milan over potential moves for either Juve’s Paulo Dybala and Inter’s Mauro Icardi.

Both Argentinian forwards are up for grabs having fallen out with their respective managers Massimilano Allegri and Luciano Spalletti.

Although United have yet to make a decision on who will replace the sacked Jose Mourinho permanently it hasn’t stopped them making plans for the summer transfer window.

Going nowhere

And Sky Sports News are reporting United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward as saying the club are hoping to agree a contract extension with David de Gea and that Marcus Rashford is another player in line for a new deal.

The pair would join Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Ashley Young, Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay in extending their stays at Old Trafford within the current season.

In a conference call with journalists on Thursday, Woodward said the club are “hoping to finish off the final few” contract renewals before the end of the campaign. With De Gea potentially secured as soon as May.

In announcing their second-quarter financial results, the club also revealed sacking former manager Jose Mourinho had cost £19.6m in compensation to the Portuguese and his staff.

Takeover talk

Meanwhile Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman is stepping up his £3.8bn takeover bid of United – in the hope of becoming the new owner as soon as next season.

The Sun claims the latest comes with United chiefs spending an increasing amount of time in Saudi Arabia.

Now the Saudi royal, whose family are worth around £850 billion, will hope current owners the Glazer family can be tempted into selling.

Sources around Old Trafford have always denied the Glazers want to sell, but the mega offer could be too good to turn down.

The American family purchased United for £790million almost 14 years ago but saddled the club with huge debt.

But it seems like it will work out pretty well for them if they do sell - making an astronomical £2.2billion profit.

Kop blow

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed Liverpool and Chelsea target Nabil Fekir is close to signing a contract extension at the French club.

The Mirror reports winger Fekir was on the brink of a £53million move to Jurgen Klopp’s Reds last summer before the move broke down.

Chelsea were then reportedly interested in taking the 25-year-old to Stamford Bridge in January but failed to agree a swoop.

Nabil Fekir

Fekir is currently contracted at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais until the end of next season.

But Aulas has let slip that Fekir, who has netted ten times this season, is locked in talks over a fresh agreement with Lyon.

And Aulas said Lyon are getting closer to extending Liverpool target Nabil Fekir’s contract, saying: “We have made some advances in Fekir’s contract extension, we are discussing it and soon I’ll have to see Nabil, we aren’t in the final stages but in any case we have advanced.”

Mighty Reds

The Express claims Liverpool believe their financial might will prevent Mohamed Salah following Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho out of the Anfield exit door

The title-chasing Reds announced record annual pre-tax profits of £125million during the week.

It came as reports surfaced that Juventus are ready to offer Argentine striker Paulo Dybala plus £44m to take Salah back to Serie A.

But Liverpool will battle any bids for the ex-Roma star.

The Egyptian has described Anfield as his 'home' and it’s no surprise he feels settled considering he is worshipped by Kopites.

Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have all put pen to paper on new long-term contracts that will see them stay at the club until 2023.

Going Dutch

Arsenal are set to challenge Liverpool for top prospect Matthijs De Ligt in the summer, acording to The Sun.

The 19-year-old Ajax centre-back is reportedly also wanted by Manchester City, Barcelona and Juventus .

The Sun says the Gunners are now set to enter the race for a £75m-rated talent - but they’ll need two things to happen to make the switch happen.

The north London club will need to qualify for the Champions League and offload big earner Mesut Ozil in order to enable them to meet Ajax’s valuation.

The teenager is already captain of the Amsterdam club and has won 13 caps for the Netherlands, making him a man in demand.

Whilst Premier League clubs are determined to land De Ligt, it appears clubs elsewhere may be in the best position to land the youngster.

Barcelona will welcome his team-mate Frenkie De Jong in the summer, which could give them an advantage.

Reports in Italy from Tuttosport, meanwhile, claim Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici travelled to Amsterdam last week in an attempt to lure De Ligt to Turin.

And finally

And goalkeeper David Ospina says he’s uncertain of Napoli’s desire to make his loan move permanent.

Though there is a clause in the deal which will seal a full transfer to Naples if a certain number of performances are made, Alex Meret’s return from injury could put a halt to his chances.

The 30-year-old is keen on staying in Europe, he told Radio Blu that a return to South America is also of interest to him.
