Portugal full-back Andre Almeida’s name continues to crop up in English media reports.

Earlier this week a story in his homeland claimed the defender is set to snub interest from the Premier League by signing a new contract with Benfica.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a number of top-flight clubs including Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United.

However, sister title ChronicleLive suggests the 28-year-old could still be on the move given the fact his agent has held talks with a number of Premier League clubs.

They state Newcastle are not one and Leicester appear to have distanced themselves too after being linked earlier this summer.

However, that leaves Wolves and Everton as English teams already credited with an interest for the £10m-rated right back.

Almeida enjoyed a stand-out campaign as Benfica won the Primeira Liga, making 12 assists and scoring twice.

Almeida is yet to sign the three-year extension offered by Benfica but has enjoyed a decorated career since joining the Eagles in 2011, winning four league titles, two Portuguese Cups, four League Cups and two Super Cups.

Matt Doherty has monopolised the right back berth for Wolves in recent seasons although Adama Traore has also filled in at wing back and Jonny is comfortable on that side.
