Tammy Abraham has been urged to stay at Aston Villa for the remainder of the season.

Talented striker Abraham, 21, is enjoying a loan spell at Villa Park from Premier League side Chelsea and scored his 12th goal in 16 matches with a penalty against Stoke City yesterday.

Villa are sweating heading into the January transfer window, though, with rumours that Chelsea could recall the England international.

Respected Sky Sports pundit Liam Rosenior has told Abraham to choose wisely.

Speaking on Sky’s EFL Goals show, Rosenior said: “If I was Tammy Abraham I would think about it very carefully.

“As good a move as it’s been for him, joining Aston Villa, it could be as big a mistake to go to another club with new players and a different way of playing.

“The way Dean Smith is playing suits him down to the ground. Yes, he needs to take the credit for scoring goals, but you see it with the service from (Yannick) Bolasie for (Jonathan) Kodjia’s goal (against Stoke), he’s got quality players who will provide him with chances.

“I think he should stay exactly where he is.”

Premier League side Crystal Palace are reportedly monitoring Abraham’s situation ahead of the transfer window with Roy Hodgson’s striking options at Selhurst Park limited.

Despite the final decision resting with Chelsea, Villa are confident they can keep hold of red-hot forward Abraham until the end of the season.

Head coach Dean Smith recently said: “All I can say is that we’ve got a number of players on loan and they have people watching them all the time.

“Eddie Newton (Chelsea’s loans manager) came up the other week. Tammy came here to play games and he’s playing games.

“Eddie Newton was really happy with how everything was going and I see no reason to not see him continuing here.

“He’s playing games and scoring goals and that’s part of his development for Chelsea.”

Abraham gained Premier League experience with Swansea City last term. He scored five in 31 appearances, albeit 16 of those outings came off the bench.
