Wolves target Cutrone

AC Milan plan to take Wolverhampton Wanderers transfer target Patrick Cutrone on their pre-season tour of the United States.

Cutrone has emerged as a target for Wolves, who are still waiting to make their first senior signing of the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old Italy forward is believed to be available for around £20million, although he reportedly has reservations over a move to Wolves.

Calciomercato report Cutrone’s preference is to remain in Milan and try to force his way into Marco Giampaolo’s starting XI at the San Siro.

But Wolves is a viable option with the club able to offer Cutrone Europa League football next season - a competition Milan have been expelled from.

The striker is due to fly out to the US with his Milan teammates for their pre-season fixtures against Bayern Munich, Benfica and Manchester United in the International Champions Cup.

Andre Silva, the striker who has been linked with Wolves throughout the past two years, is also set to board the plane to the US.

Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to secure a centre-back and hopes to make four quality additions before the window shuts on August 8.

Nuno addresses Costa rumour - sort of!

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo refused to be drawn on speculation linking Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa with a sensational Molineux move this summer.

Rumours of the Brazilian switching Madrid for Wolverhampton surfaced on social media with fans being sent into frenzy.

Few credible reports have suggested that the ex-Chelsea striker could be on Nuno's wishlist, but that has done little to stop the transfer rumour mill being sent into overdrive.

Several bookmakers have Wolves as odds-on favourite to sign Costa.  And Nuno, who is preparing his team for the Premier League Asia Trophy final with Manchester City today, was directly asked about links to the 30-year-old.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Portuguese shrugged off any talk with a swift rebuttal: “I cannot answer that, we do not talk about players that are not with us.”

Alvarez joins Ajax

Reported Wolverhampton Wanderers target Edson Alvarez has signed for Dutch club Ajax, Club America has confirmed.

The Mexican defender has been heavily linked with a number of European clubs this summer with Wolves and Ajax most prominently connected to the 21-year-old.

Alvarez was part of the Mexico squad which claimed the Gold Cup title earlier this month, alongside Wolves star Raul Jimenez, and his future has now been decided.

He’s joined Ajax on a five-year contract and will replace Netherlands defender Matthjis de Ligt in the Amsterdam club’s defence.

Wolves are pressing ahead with other targets with the club understood to be pursuing a deal for AC Milan striker Patrick Cutrone.

Nuno Espirito Santo is not only chasing a striker, though. The Portuguese boss also wants a centre-back with Wolves targeting as many as four high quality additions before the window shuts on August 8.
