Coffee giant Tim Hortons is reopening its Birmingham eatery in New Street.

Birmingham New Street will open on Monday June 1 along with newly opened Manchester,  Belfast and its Leicester branch which opens tomorrow (Saturday May 30).

The news follows the successful trial earlier this month of seven of their UK Drive Thru restaurants.

All staff will follow stringent health and safety procedures -   including temperature checks and the wearing of "non-medical PPE" for team members.

Inside the store there will be perspex screens at counters, signage to encourage customer social distancing and contactless payment only with no maximum spend.

The famous Canadian brand's Birmingham site will be open for takeaway and delivery through Deliveroo and Just Eat.

A spokeswoman said: "Customers will be allowed to enter the restaurant, place an order, and collect their food and beverages. There will be no dine-in option available."

Kevin Hydes, Chief Commercial Officer at Tim Hortons U.K. & Ireland added: “Over the past two weeks, in line with government guidelines, we have successfully re-opened seven Drive Thru lane only restaurants. We introduced a number of measures to ensure our teams and customers felt safe and the feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive.

"The learning we have taken during this period has given us the confidence to re-open more restaurants and introduce more ways to serve our customers. We are looking forward to welcoming back customers to our restaurants in Birmingham, Leicester, Manchester and Belfast.”

Tim Hortons is one of several chains to reopen in the city - following Prime Minister's Boris Johnson recent announcement that lockdown restrictions were being relaxed.

Earlier this week Nando's reopened its New Street branch - serving a "reduced menu".

Other chain eateries open for click and collect include Five Guys on Broad Street and KFC Kings Norton Business Park.  Click here for the full list of KFC eateries open in Brum.

Tim Hortons New Street will serve a full menu and will initially be open from 7am-8pm Monday to Saturday and from 9am-6pm on Sunday.
