McDonald's has re-opened a fair few branches across the country - but none in Birmingham just yet.

As a city with more restaurants belonging to Maccies than any other UK city outside of London, this is quite disappointing.

But don't fear, folks, because the fast food chain assures us the outlets will be re-opening as soon as it is safe to do so.

Sadly, we don't know when that is just yet, as Maccy D's opts to re-open sites in the south of the country.

“We're taking our time to reopen in a way helps everyone stay safe including our suppliers," a statement from McDonald's reads.

"This means the first 44 pilot restaurants are close to one of our distribution centres as we prepare our supply chain for reopening.

"We are working hard to expand our restaurant reopenings to all Drive-Thrus across the UK and Ireland by early June.”

The chain has re-opened more than 30 drive-thrus, with branches from Peterborough and Luton to Chelsmford opening.

McDonald's has said that it hopes to have all UK restaurants back up and running by June if it is safe to do so.

But currently there are none in the Midlands - yet hopefully that will change soon.

We can hope, anyway.
