A Birmingham startup founder has been selected to join a global entrepreneurship network as part of its expansion to Birmingham.

Tony Summerville, founder and CEO of Fleetio, has been selected to join the Endeavor network as a part of a Southeastern expansion led by the Endeavor Atlanta office.

Endeavor is a 22-year-old international nonprofit that supports over 1,900 entrepreneurs who lead 1,227 companies in 35 markets around the world.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tony and the Fleetio team to the Endeavor global network and support their continued growth,” said Aaron Hurst, managing director of Endeavor Atlanta. “Companies like Fleetio create a significant positive economic impact on Birmingham and our goal is to increase that impact as they scale. In addition, we are excited to officially support the Birmingham entrepreneurial ecosystem as Endeavor Atlanta transitions toward a southeastern coverage model.”

Endeavor’s expansion into Birmingham was facilitied through a partnership between the Endeavor Atlanta team and the Overton project, a social impact entity owned by Jared Weinstein that brings evidence-based programs and initiatives to the Magic City.

“We believe Endeavor fits well in the spectrum of other entrepreneurial support offerings currently in Birmingham, specifically providing growth-stage founders with a global network of advisers, investors and customers," Weinstein said.

There are plans to build out pre-Endeavor programming for Birmingham companies and to hire a local resource to develop the pipeline of potential future members.

After being selected to join Endeavor, Summerville will gain access to mentors, networking events, industry tours, access to eMBA fellows and MBA teams for special projects, educational opportunities at Harvard and Stanford executive programs, counseling for fundraising pitches and access to a global investor network.

“I’m honored to be chosen as an Endeavor entrepreneur and am incredibly excited about how Endeavor will help Fleetio achieve its full potential,” said Summerville, who was recently chosen as one of our Top 40 Under 40 for the Decade. “I also believe that the Endeavor program can be a key ingredient in supporting other Birmingham entrepreneurs in scaling their companies and look forward to helping stand up that program here locally.”
