Reginald Bracy is one of four defensive backs who is visited the Iowa Hawkeyes. With just two or three slots available at the position, Bracy took little time in adding himself to the Hawks’ pipeline in the defensive backfield.

In Bracy’s film, he shows a versatile skillset all over the field. His instincts and tackling are very impressive as he makes tackles with regularity in the backfield, whether on run plays, screens, or blitzes. Though his strengths lie as a box safety, he shows solid coverage skills and even had a few highlights on the offensive side of the ball.

Given his size - 6’0”, 190 lbs - he has some room to grow in his frame to be in line with current safeties who range between 200 and 210 pounds. With the 4-2-5 defensive becoming Iowa’s base, his path to playing time could include the CASH position. How quickly he contributes will likely hinge on his ability to grasp the playbook.

He chose Iowa over the typical offer list of a Hawk recruit:

  • mediocre Big Ten team (Indiana; check)
  • service academy (Navy, Air Force; check)
  • MACtion (Central Michigan; check)

He also demonstrates Iowa’s newfound willingness and ability to go into the south and close the deal. No doubt Iowa’s pedigree at defensive back helps, but Derrick Foster’s addition to the coaching staff continues to pay dividends.

Welcome aboard, Reginald Bracy!
