A major road in Preston has been shut after emergency services had to rescue a man from a flat.

Emergency services are clearing up in New Hall Lane following the incident.

Preston Police shut the road around 7.15pm on Thursday (21 March).

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service used specialist equipment to cut a window off a flat in New Hall Lane to retrieve the unconscious male, an eyewitness told Blog Preston.

A man had suffered a heart attack and due to his condition needed specialist medical attention.

North West Ambulance Service asked the fire service to help them lift the man from the flat.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “One male had a medical emergency and ambulance crews asked for the fire service to be taken out through the flat window.

“The aerial ladder platform from Preston was called to the incident and it was there for approximately an hour.”

The closure was in place from Skeffington Road junction to Geoffrey Street.
