The Preston skyline is set to change after approval was granted for a new 21-storey apartment block.
AdvertisementWork on the £8 million scheme at 5 Church Row is due to start in the next few months. When completed, it will be one of the tallest residential developments in the city.
The Preston city centre development will comprise 80 one, two and three bedroom apartments, plus around 4,500 sq. ft. of retail space.
Developer Eastern Estates Ltd says it hopes the approval will be the first given for several developments earmarked for Preston.
Mustaq Bhailok from Eastern Estates said: “The iconic piece of architecture is set to transform the city centre landscape, not to mention create much-needed employment for local industry and commerce.
“The approval in this tentative time exemplifies Preston City Council’s desire for Preston and ensures that the city remains a key player in the North West development scene.”

The developer has been working with Cheshire and London-based architecture firm 1618 Architects Ltd to design this and other schemes for Preston.
Managing Director of 1618, Mr Afaq, said: “Given the current challenging times and financial burdens faced by the world due to the outbreak of Covid-19, we are delighted that the scheme has been given approval by the planners of Preston.
“It brings much-needed positivity, as once work begins on this development, it will create significant investments and jobs in the locale.
“The development will be predominantly aimed at professionals and millennials who prefer an uncomplicated renting experience in a luxurious and modern, fully-managed bespoke building.”
