KFC have called on those using Preston’s drive-through at the Docks to stop being ‘a tosser’.
AdvertisementIt comes after pictures, published by Blog Preston on May 14, showed rubbish strewn across car parks near to the fast-food outlet at Preston Docks.
Antoni Squires, who sent the pictures to Blog Preston, and called on the Colonel and co to clean up their act has now seen his picture used as part of a UK-wide publicity campaign.
KFC, and other fast food chains, have faced mounting criticism since reopening under lockdown restrictions for the volume of rubbish collecting as drivers can’t wait to get home and eat their food.

As part of a social media campaign then KFC states under the headline of ‘Don’t Be a Tosser’:
“Friend chicken fans, we’ve missed you. A lot. And we know you’ve missed us too. We saw those homemade attempts and they really made us smile.
“But something that doesn’t make us smile is people spoiling our communities and wrecking the environment. Yup, litter. So that’s why we’re asking you, with love, not to be a tosser.
“Our team members are on the case carrying out regular litter picks around restaurants. So when we still see photos online of KFC litter on UK & Irish streets, we really do throw our wings up in despir.
“Being a good neighbour matters – so we just want to encourage you to take your litter home with you, or toss it in the bin.
“With great chicken comes great responsibility. Let’s all do our bit.”
Antoni Squires said on seeing his picture used: “I’m very pleased to see that they (KFC) have taken notice of mine along with many other people’s complaints and images, and that it has gained national attention.
“It is clearly a nationwide problem that needs to be addressed. I am aware that KFC themselves are not directly responsible for the appaling mess, and that it is a number of their customers who have such a flagrant disregard for the environment.
“But isn’t it pretty sad that people should need to be reminded to behave responsibly, and put their rubbish in a bin!”
