A Preston city centre bar looks to have called time due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Rift Bar Preston, in Main Sprit Weind, off Fishergate, was closed along with other pubs and clubs in late March in line with government guidance.

A post on Facebook suggests the bar has now closed permanently and work has been going on to strip Rift of its fixtures and fittings.

The post states: “It’s with great sadness that due to circumstances beyond our control that Rift & Co is no more.

“Covid 19 has taken its toll on already a struggling nightlife trade and to be fair it’s probably for all the right reasons, so it’s time to say goodbye.

“It’s time to say goodbye to the sticky floors.

“Time to say goodbye to them nasty 2-4-1 cocktails you grew to love.

“Time to say goodbye to the horrible nasty toilets and the stairs you always fell down drunk.

“Time to say goodbye to them cheap drinks.

“Time to say goodbye to the bar staff that in all fairness hated their jobs anyhow. Goodbye Rift. Maybe see you again soon sometime.”

In 2018 the bar applied to extend its operating hours until 3am six-days-a-week and 4am on Thursdays.

The bar was previously known as Revolution or Vodka Revolution.
