Doctor is jailed for 12 years for sexual assaults on boys at two Sussex hospitals

A struck off hospital doctor convicted of multiple sexual assaults on boys in his care at two Sussex hospitals has been jailed for 12 years.

Sivaguru Narendran, 78, committed assaults on four boys between 1983 and 1996, including a case in which he blindfolded his victim and tied him to a bed, Lewes Crown Court heard. The jury convicted him on 13 counts of sexual assault while acquitting him on one charge of buggery.

Narendran’s medical career ended after he was arrested in 1996 for sexually assaulting a 12 year old boy at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. He was jailed for 21 months over that offence and struck off the medical register.
