The crowd files in to the first day of Shot Show, the largest firearm industry trade show, on Jan. 21, 2020 in Las Vegas. Idaho Gov. Brad Little attended to pitch the state as a welcoming place for firearm businesses.

Gov. Brad Little was in Nevada yesterday pitching Idaho as a gun-friendly business environment to the largest firearm industry event of the year.

Gov. Little is a regular at Shot Show, an annual firearm trade show that draws tens of thousands of gun makers and buyers to Las Vegas every year. He came Thursday to speak at an Idaho reception for the firearms industry, part of an ongoing effort to woo firearms manufacturers.

Last week, he spoke at a gun range event in Boise for state lawmakers, saying he attends events like Shot Show to actively lobby gun companies to come to Idaho.

“Most of their employees hunt and fish and are recreational shooters and just feel more welcome here than some of those other states,” he said.

Shot Show organizers said they expected roughly 60,000 people connected to the gun industry, as well as officials from law enforcement and even foreign militaries, to attend the show.

The firearms industry accounts for a larger share ofIdaho’s economy than nearly any other state. It also has some of the least-restrictive gun laws in the nation. In recent years several firearm manufacturers have relocated to gun-friendly states like Idaho.
