Police: New Hampshire man in wheelchair hit by tractor-trailer dies
Francis Houghton, 70, was struck Tuesday afternoon in Tilton.
TILTON, N.H. (AP) — Police say a 70-year-old pedestrian in a wheelchair has died after he was struck by a tractor-trailer in New Hampshire.
WMUR-TV reports police received several 911 calls about the crash in Tilton around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Responding officers found veteran Francis Houghton in the roadway with serious injuries. Houghton was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.
Tilton Police Chief Robert Cormier says witnesses followed the tractor-trailer after it left the scene. Police say the driver later told officers he did not know he hit someone.

No charges have been filed.
Police say an investigation is ongoing.
