Northern New England is in for another snowstorm, which will arrive late Wednesday evening and taper out by Thursday afternoon. It’s welcome news for skiers hoping to hit the slopes in the coming days.
Vermont and New Hampshire
A winter weather advisory is in effect for Vermont and New Hampshire from 8 p.m. Wednesday to midmorning Thursday.
Central and eastern Vermont will see 3 to 5 inches of snow beginning around 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to forecasters at the National Weather Service at Burlington. Snowfall will become steady overnight, possibly mixing with sleet after midnight.
The “wintry mix” of precipitation will turn to rain by midmorning Thursday, forecasters tweeted. The agency warns road conditions will be slippery Thursday morning.
Four to 6 inches are expected to hit New Hampshire at most.
“Snow changing to freezing rain is the most likely precipitation type,” forecasters at NWS Gray say.
Maine
In Maine, snowfall will begin after midnight in coastal locales, and several hours later across the rest of the state, according to forecasters. Three to 6 inches of snow are expected across the state.
A winter weather advisory issued by forecasters warns that the system is fast-moving, ending as freezing rain at the coast.
