Here’s the timing of the ‘heavy rain’ forecast in Massachusetts on Tuesday

Keep your umbrella and rain gear handy.

Staying dry might be a challenge in Massachusetts on Tuesday. The National Weather Service says a warm front arriving in the region will bring “soaking heavy rain” to the Bay State, which could cause some street flooding. “A widespread 1-2 inch rainfall is expected with possibly up to 3 inches in spots,” meteorologists said.

The showers are predicted to start mainly after noon in Boston and continue largely before 10 p.m., according to the service’s seven-day forecast for the city.

Forecasters said the steady rain “should wind down” later Tuesday, but the precipitation won’t end there.

“Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will be possible through the night with locally heavy downpours,” the service said.
