Here’s what to expect from Thursday’s weather forecast

A humid and stormy week continues.

Afternoon thunderstorms caused pedestrians to scurry on Atlantic Avenue, even with their shoes off on July 31.

Thursday is coming in hot and humid. High temperatures will hit the upper 80’s and lower 90’s, getting close to heat-advisory territory around Boston. The humidity will decrease as a cold front moves across the region, but will not hit the coast until at least early evening. Drier air may defeat any afternoon convection, but the chance for some showers or thunderstorms cannot be ruled out entirely. There’s a greater chance of precipitation at night, when the cold front will stall near the south coast.
